Default Best All Around Quad???

I'm thinking of buying a 400 EX over the Raptor for a quad to ride around with my kids. My friend has an 02 Raptor & it's a real nice quad except for a couple of things...They sit tall & feel tippy which I didn't like & my friends had his starter gear bolts break away! He takes good care of it & it still did this. On the plus side, they have more power than the 400 EX & they are water-cooled. I bought a new 2001 400 EX then sold it to my sister-in-law after only owning it 6 months...I regret doing it...It is a nice quad & there were only 2 things I didn't like about it...it was slower than my buddies Raptors & Banshee's & it was air-cooled. I bought a new 2002 Banshee the same day I sold the 400 EX mostly to keep up with my friends out here in the sand, but it's a pain to follow my son on his Honda 90 Sportrax when he wants to go trail riding..Banshee's have no low end & don't like to be ridden at 1/4 throttle, but I'll keep it for trips to Glamis & such but if I buy another quad, it will be the 400EX...right now they have 6.9% financing & $300 bonus bucks to sweeten the deal.

Default Best All Around Quad???

OK, we're talkin' "all around quad" here. No doubt it's the Polaris Xplorer 400 4x4. A few mods to the motor and it'll run like a sport bike, work like a utility and mud with anything. To defend my position I suggest going to the Polaris side and do a search for Explorer and read what happy owners have to say about them. You will find the phrase "best all around quad" mentioned over and over.

Toss up between 400ex and raptor, the ex is built better but the raptor has liquid and reverse.

You're goona choose a 2WD air cooled quad with no reverse as the best all around quad? How crazy is that?

Not quite as crazy as choosing a Polaris Xplorer 400 4x4. Hey, if you're going to say that, might as well go with the Grizzly or Prarie. If the new YFZ proves to be as reliable and trail worthy as the 400EX, maybe the YFZ is it??

Also, for all those saying the 400EX...why not the Z400? Liquid cooled and reverse?

Not trying to get anyone mad but from my experience z's are behind honda's in quality. My friend has one and he's beat on it for 6 month and it's crap, everyone around here beats on their ex's just as much and they run excellent(could be maintence). Also around here some z's have had cracked frames and another's oil tank blew up.

I thought lowerburrell wanted the best all around sport quad, if ur talking about work quads then i'd pick the Prairie 650. My neighbor has one and it's very impressive.
