His question was best all around (I know he gave 3 sport quads for choices). Not sport OR work. Therefore, I stand by my Xplorer 400 4x4 as the best combination of everything.

 

I would have to agree with 95SPORT400. But of course I would I have 4 of the POLARIS 400 quads. But the Thread did say all around quad. Last week I used my Xpolrer to pull my lawn mower. How many 400ex owners did that ? Last month I used my Xplorer to launch my fishing boat. How many Raptor owners did that ? Last winter I plowed my driveway with my Xplorer. How many Banchee owners did that ? Now before everyone gets their panties in a wad I do know that these quads will outrun my Xplorer in the sand but when in Glamis my heavy Xplorer went up every dune including the "CHINA WALL". I know that a 400EX will do wheelies all day long and my Xplorer has a hard time getting the front off the ground but it will if you want. However, my Xplorer will run through mud holes with the best of them not many of the banchee's, raptor's, and 400ex's run with me in the mud. I can trail ride and hill climb with any of these bikes and do it as well if not better. So I do agree that the best all around quad has to be a quad that can do all the riding and work not just specialize in one type.

 

I really have trouble believing that. I've seen utilities struggle up Olds Hill (Hill #2)and not make it, and China Wall (Hill #4) is higher and steeper. Are you positive that's where you were?

Yes, I know China Wall very well and make up in 2nd gear on my R.

 

Yes I am sure. We spent a week there and went everywhere. I have a video of me racing a Raptor up Olds hill. My Xplorer is not stock I would guess that a stock one may have trouble with the china wall but olds hill would be no problem. I have scheduled a trip to SAND MOUNTAIN in Utah this November can't wait to try the dunes there.

 

Yep. I'm serious. I didn't say it wasn't boring - that's why also ride a KDX200 (2-stroke). But the question asked for my opinion of the "best all around quad" - and all around it fits my needs the best (for the money).
P.S. It will do 45 (and you don't even have to get off and push!).

 

How can you title a post "Best All Around Quad", and then limit the choices to sport bikes.....best "all around" would imply (to me) that a bike have 4wd capability...so for starters the best "all around" quad would, to me, have switchable 2wd/4wd....if it's limited to 2wd then immediately it wouldn't qualify as the best "all around"....

 

along with wolverine and prarie 650 i will add the scrambler 500

At Glamis Olds Hill was easy in reverse on my 650 Prairie, Also china Wall was beaten with a stock 400 Scrambler Polaris with V-Paddles on backwards!!!!!!!!!!!!

why dont you ride a 400ex, raptor and a shee (if you can handle one, your like what.. 12?)
