These posts should be banned! Honda will produce another sport machine when they are dang good and ready... and not until then! All you children need to quit bickering about it!
Does it make financial sense for a company to sit by and watch the competition out-sell their product? NO... so why are they doing it?

I sure hope they redesign their 450 for more engine longevity if they stick it in a quad.....what were they thinking? Less powerful and more maintenance than the 450 Yammy?

What I want to know is Honda actually sending R&D guys to these conventions, expos? Or did they fire there R&D team right after the 400ex was made. I wonder if it would make a difference if we all started forwarding these links to these forum messages to Honda's ATV web site. I think they would be pretty embarrased. The biggest difference and nobody seems to know why is that Honda's absence in both comments and replys to posts like these is what really pisses most people off. At least they could come out and tell us if they were even the least bit interested in keeping there customers happy. Seriously do a search about topics like this.. There are far more dissapointed people in the Honda forum on sport ATV's then any other forum by far. If Honda is going to put something out for making us wait like I don't know sense 1989 it better not be just a Honda 450ex. It better be a new age revolutionized 70hp 450lb Pro quad off the show room floor.

Yeah i heard about that TRX500R too. That would have been one awesome quad! I would love to see that brochure or be able to get a nice copy of it somewhere, even though they will never make the quad. It would be interesting to see how they were gonna market it and to see the official, yet unofficial specs of such a machine. I wish i could see the official honda prototype too. Not some crap someone made in their shed, but the real thing, you know? Its bound to be at some honda museum or assembly plant somewhere. Heck, the original suzuki quadracer is on display in japan at suzuki head quaters. But, I want to see that honda!

As far as the new bike for this era, the 450 is supposed to arrive in september. Nothing is concrete until we all see it though, but its about time for them to say something about it. theyve been testing something for years now so this may be the time. We will all see though. If not, get a YFZ.

 

I do agree that Honda is taking there good old time with this, and for good reasons.
But remember they do there research and development in modern environments
not with you on a quad that has not been fully tested retested tweaked improved upon and then changed and improved upon again.
I work for a "Japanese Co. involved in this project".
I have seen the blueprints and it is going to happen.
It takes a very long time for these guys to say BE OKAY.
They pride themselves in safety first,(the consumer and Honda associates) then quality, and then production.
Now some of you may not agree with this post but if you worked with the Japanese as long as I have you will understand there....... delay.
As an example has anyone seen a Honda pickup truck?
How long was the "passport an isuzu before Honda jumped in both feet???
Then they built a minivan, suv, and another atv plant.
Better late then never and the quality was worth the wait.
Honda wants to wait until they feel that they have an excellent product and when it arrives then you Guys and Gals and ol' farts like me can throw mud, sand.... in the face on the trails of all of the others who bought too soon.
It will be worth the wait and it will happening.

While Yam, Suz, Kaw and others have been moving ahead with development of sport machines, what has Honda introduced in the past few years? Rincon, Rancher improvements, even Recon improvements. Why? $$$$$$$$$!!!. Honda sells way more sport-utes than pure sport machines. That is where they know their biggest market is, and that is where Honda focuses their attention and resources. 8 of 10 buyers wouldn't know what to do with a clutch lever if they had one, instead want auto or electric shifting, locking differentials, 2-4 wheel drive shiftability, racks, floorboards, stuff like that. How many units of the race-oriented 450 will Yamaha sell? Not a tenth of the number of Grizzlies they'll sell. That is why the latest Honda Sport quad is so overdue. Sadly, pure sport is a low priority to Honda, because it is not a factor to the great majority of new quad buyers.

 

Well I hope that honda does make a 450 sport quad. Id like to ride one but I aint buyin no yamaha!!!!
