300ex is blowing fuses
Well my quad is blowing fuses. I was out rididng about 2 miles back in the woods behind my house when my quad died and would not show the lights or even turn over. I ran home, got my friend with a quad and he pulled me about 1.75 miles back and then you could start to smell his clutch burning so he went home. I got my dad and he helped me push it home with all the bugs swarming around and bitting us. He was mad and swearing his head off at me. We got it home and relized it was the fuse and replaced it with the 15 amp they give you as a spare. It started up. Then i shut it off adn tries again but the quad once again, did the same thing as int he woods. Then we put in a 20 amp and the same thing happend, start, shut off, don't start. My dad, who is a mechanic, says that there is a short somewhere and i beleive him, but he is not gonna looka t it tohingt. I was wondering where the short may be or if this is a common problem with 300's? Thanks in advance.

Even with the fuse blown, you should be able to pop start the engine and ride home. Only the lights and starter are on the fused circuit. Just don't turn the engine off once you have it restarted with a blown fuse. I had this problem with the 400EX, and it was a pinched wire in the lighting harness.

Well we fixed it. The problem was becasue of me. when i put on the new bars the ignition cable would rub against somepart on the stearing stem or handlebars and it cases it to splice. Then when iwould turn left it would hit the stearing stem and blow the fuse. Thanks for all you suggestions.
