Default 10 paddle haulers on a 440 ex

i would like to report that contrary what others have told me the 10 paddle hauler is not too much tire for a 440 ex( if you are running in the dry summer sand conditions).yesterday at the dunes we ran the ten paddle hauler in a 21-12-8 size on my wifes 440 and the performance increase in the conditions we were in was very impressive.my wife got a chance to run against a piped baja and ran right along with him up our comp hill the first run and only lost the second time by maybe about a half quad length.i just wanted to report what worked for us in case anyone else was considering giving this a try.i dont think it would work out very well in a wetter hard packed sand but for summer and the dry sand it does very well and of course you would need a strong running 440 to keep from bogging down.we also ran the wifes 440 on the sand flats to see if she lost much on the top end but if there was a speed loss it was very small.

I put some 10's (22x10x10) on my 440 and increased my dumont comp hill time by .5 seconds. So I have to agree with you. The only problem I found was that the tires rubbed on my nerfs and tore a 4 inch hole across three of the paddles. These were skat trak haulers with the regular paddles, not the extremes. So beware!!

I've got a set of 22x11x8 11 paddle Hauler ultra lights that I'm going to try on the 465EX next weekend. I mainly run 300' drags and have the EX equiped with struts, wheelie bar and a 13 tooth counter sprocket. I really doubt that I will be able to take off in 2nd like I want to but I have these paddles laying around and figured I'd give them a try. The 13 counter sprocket allows me to be tapped out in 5th at the end of 300'. I'll keep you posted on the results.

Your right, the sand conditions have a great deal to do with tires, pressure, etc.
10 is typically too many... In the really soft stuff, they'll help you get out of the hole and up on plane faster. Where you'll notice them being slower is at higher speeds, because they are harder to turn at higher speeds.
I run 10 paddle haulers on my machine, and I really get the jump on folks, but at the top of the hill is when they start catching me.

I run 10paddles on my Ds. Everyone said it was way to many paddles for my bike. But, I do enjoy getting out the hole on people. We run short runs usually under 350ft. So you need the hole shot. Different sand conditions require different tires. We run deep soft sand. More paddles the better.

i wasnt sure if i should post the results that my wife got by switching to the ten paddle hauler or not but with the improved performance i thought i should share the info.many times i will talk about something that i just witnessed or a change that i made while running on the dunes just hours earlier and i will get people who were not there to see it dispute what i have said,i guess they have nothing better to do.if you can sort through the bs that you sometimes here on this forum there is actually some good performance enhancing ideas to try and i like to share mine and try others and in fact that is what i like best about these forums.
