You have to go all out. (cam, porting, carb, rev box)

You WILL be dissapointed. I was bummed when I got my 440 (!!!) back together! (no cam, porting ect)
A 416cc bore with nothing else? A stocker will run right next to it.

Just wait. You'll see.
id say he's right. your stock cam, ports and carb are all based around the stock engine displacement and we all know production based bikes are pretty choked as it is. yeah you're allowing more area for air to come in but what's the point if the carb, ports and cam arent allowing anymore than before? moving as much air (and obviously with it the correct amount of fuel for effecient burn) through the motor as possible determines more power.

well kc like i said there is a lot of guys that get on here and say what they have seen, you've rode with me and you know where i like my machines to fall, i was going straight 415 until the bearing, if you get the 11-1 compression even with the stock bore it will help so going 416 will be better, but go and ask for dyno charts that compare 440 to 415 look at the difference. they are right spend 2500 and it should be stupid fast maybe as fast as my ds and even you smiled about that. but hey it would be a good place to started . anyways 10 days and you can see how that 415 all stock with the little stroke works, and yes it would be better with the cams and springs and porting and all and with a nos bottle it would be wicked. hey go for it, if not run the yellow one until you lose then come get, the red one. after that i might let you use my yellow one i think you would have most covered have fun on this choice. did you call pam, she will tell you what you need to know, tell her you are my friend.

ok bill, I don't get that "if not run the yellow one until you lose then come get, the red one. after that i might let you use my yellow one", I WILL give powroll a call, if you tell me what to ask. So did you just get the 415 kit and then got it stroked?
Thanks,
kc

it all depends how it is built. if you take a 416, port it, cam it, oversized valves, aftermarket carb, the works it is going to beat in all categories just a 400ex with a 440 sleeve and piston. it really all depends on how much someone is going to spend.

well for $550 just throw on a slip on exhaust and change the cam. you will not benifit from just a bore and sleeving. without exhaust cam and porting.

Why would you be wrong? Is a 400EX faster than a 384EX?

Yes. Is a 440EX faster than a 416EX with the same mods? yes.

when i was doing my research i found some difference on what was better. i ride with duneittiludie and his wife has the 440 with pipe and just a lot of dailing in, with out a doubt it is faster than a 400, the 415 stroked turned in a better hill climb than that, you just have to work what you have, gearing is a issue jetting is major. i can agree with every post on here, but most of it is based on what someone else has seen, some people can tune good and some suck.
