Hey Ive got a question for you big bore owners. Since there are other models out there that make close to 40 horse stock is it really worth it spend all that time and money on a 400ex to try and get that kind of power out of it. How much does it actually cost for everything (carb ,valves, cams, pistons, sleeves, exhaust, spring kits, port work, timing mods,) Are there any dyno numbers and hows the reliability. My brother just picked up a 400ex and is questioning if it will be worth it spend money on it or to buy something else. Back in the 90s I spent many thousands on a 300ex to get it to perform like a 250r and did it with a 406 stroker engine but it is slow compared to the 2000 and newer quads like raptors cannondales ,and the yz450. What do you think Yay or nay.

I've always kinda liked being the underdog when it came to dragging.....my HPD Pol smoked many of cocky Banshee's and it's just as much fun whipping up on a fair share of Raptors, Predators, Z's, Cannons and DS's with the stock looking EX.

so do you guys know the bore of the 465? the 415-16 stroked is a 440, so if i wasn't asleep in math class that makes for a difference of what 25? so do you see anything that looks the same here? 440 stroked- 25 for the stroke does that add up to 465? it would be better to buy a newer quad engine combo but hey if the rider fits the quad , it might be worth the price.
