Default K+n or Rejet ?

A group of us that I ride with are heading down to the Rocky Mountain ATV Jamboree in Sept. and we are wondering if we could just install a K+N filter instead of rejetting our quads. I know you are suppose to rejet with a K+N filter are your normal altitude but since we will be ridding in thinner air wouldn't that even out for us ? Any thoughts would be welcomed Thanks Kevin

You have to rejet. Or you can cuase many problems for your quad.

I must agree unless you want serious problems you better rejet when you add the K&N

I know you should rejet IF you are riding at your normal riding altitude that your quad is jetted for.............. But we will be going up anywhere from 5-10,000 ft higher than our normal altitude than our quads are jetted for. thats why I asked the question if just the K+N filter will lean us out enough for the thinner air.

See my reply to this question in the Performance Mods section. I would put a K&N on anyway (and pipe wouldn't hurt either), and rejet for your home altitude. Then use the vented airbox method. I use to use vents and duck tape, but the TPI Valves are so much more convenient. This works, and for a short trip like yours, is the easy answer.
