Default Rubicon shifting help

Just bought a used 02 Rubicon. My question is in D/esp mode I shift up and down I feel it and the display indacates 1-5 gear positions. Now in either d/d1 or d/d2 I can not feel and shifts or does the display indacate anything other than it in either D1 or D2. Is this the way the indacator works??????

Default Rubicon shifting help

yes, your rubicon is just fine.

d1 and d2 are fully automatic, controled by computer, your shift button will not function on the handlebar
d1 performance, best for all around
d2 torque, keeps the engine in a lower RPM range and shift sooner , should be used on flat ground or when in slippery condition, like ice and snow. your shift button will not function on the handlebar

ESP is still computer controled , yet you select where you want to keep it at manually , so it will feel like a manual shift and it will stay in that position or setting, remember this trans has no gears, all hydraulic,

all this is better explained in your owners manual

Thanks for the info. Wish I had got an owners manual. Used bikes don't always have such.
