If you feel that reverse is necessary, get a Warrior or 300EX. The 400EX is real easy to switch ends with on a trail or road. Just add a little body english and open the throttle and before you know it you will be turned around. I don't miss the reverse on my 400EX except when backing it out of the barn....

I went from a Quadsport to a Warrior to a 400ex. You will learn how to ride without using reverse (hopefully) and you will forget that you ever used it. I had reverse for 16 years and then lost it 6 months ago. no regrets here. If you love to ride in mud, then you might have a problem.

And that will cure the need for reverse?

Get the 400....

The people usually issuing warnings about reverse are usually riders of 600+lbs utility machines. They just don't understand that not all bikes are as heavy and hard to maneuver as theirs.

I was worried about the exact same thing before buying my 400EX a couple months ago. But take everyone else's word for it, you won't miss reverse, I sure don't. You just remember that you can't back up and don't get yourself in a situation where you'll have to back up. Just a squeeze of the throttle and you can whip it right around no problem, or worse case you can just kick it into neutral and get off and pull it back, the thing is VERY light.

The 400EX turns so sharp that its very rare that you'll miss reverse. I compared my 400EX to a popular (I'm not mention the model so as to not anger anyone) Yamaha model, and was amazed how wide the Yamaha turns. I got rid of my 1999 Yamaha (?) which gave lots of trouble in reverse. I bought the Honda on purpose because of past experiences and the fact that I couldn't complain about its reverse since it does have any. Again you won't need or miss it.

I rode without reverse almost all my life. it is better without cause you are a little more causes and less likly to get stuck in somewere that you can't get out after you do it once or twice. I rode a 350x trike and that ting could trun anywere you wanted to without trouble. You can also larn to use hills for reverse if you don't want to get off.
