Default Rubicon problem

Has anyone had this kind of problem? Just bought a 02 rubicon at a private sale and when you put it in esp and start to shift the gears, it will only shift up to fourth gear, and when you try to go to fifth it will not go, and the D1 and D2 and ESP will blink on the screen. It will not down shift or anything. The only way to get it to shift is to turn it off and let it reset itself. D1 an D2 work fine, the rubi only had 57 mi. it. Honda dealer is dumbfounded. And of course it is out of warnty. Has anyone had this kind of problem?

I think its the angle sensor, this has been a question asked from time to time by more than a few people and it's always a sensor going out. I have never had this problem so you might get someone else's opinion before trying anything.

Thats what I thought that it had to be a connection or sensor or computor. Got it out tonight and rode it down the road in D2 and opened it up and it started to do the same thing in D2. When I pulled into the driveway it would not even down shift, had to shut it down and start over again. Thanks for the input. Guess I will take it to the shop. Will let you know what I find out.
