Bear Claws or Blackwaters for Rancher
#13
I have the Bear Claws. They are 4 ply rated and do very well and are holding up to some of the Hard Pack and crush & run gravel roads I ride. They rock crawl real good and mud sling well. I can't see any power robbing that the Specialty Type Mud tires do.
I have some info on them you should know.
There are 2 styles. An early mold number and a new improved mold. They beefed up the lugs on the newer mold. I found this out when I purchased a set of 4 @ OEM sizes. All 25 inch tall. The fronts were shorter. Concerned about the 4x4 drive train I called Kenda USA and explained. They asked me for the mold number on the side wall. It looks like a plate with rivets on each side. They revealed I had an old mold number on the fronts (4899 229) in size 25x8x12. I then noticed that the lugs were narrower and thinner than my rear (mold # 5199 211 in 25x10x12). They sent me 2 newer mold tires (0600 212) and let me keep the others to sell. They now match in height and lug size. Compound is between Medium & Hard leaning to the Medium side.
I run 4psi all the way around so I can play a bit and still have some Cush. They are A little taller than my DunFlops 25s'.

XLR8 i ride in the Wiapourous area about 60 km's from Calgary, beautiful mountains and 1000 km's of trails. As for the B/W in mud they work great ,i am usally the one sent in to drag someone out which has been fun at times when you only let out about 3 feet of cable and you get to see how good that lock diff. works while directing the spay from the B/W which cleans reaaaaal goooood.

Thanx for filling me in dirtyhowies, but now for a few more questions: Where did you get your blackwaters? Do you have a lift kit? If not, do those big tires rub on your fenders? Do you make lockers(someone from calgary does) for a wolverine? If so how much do you sell them for?
P.S. Have you ridden around falls creek area?

XLR8 when i bought the bike i had them changed never did try the stock tires. No i don't have a lift and yes they did rub but i trimmed of 1/4 of an inch off the black mud flap right at the corner and no rub now. I do make and sell diff. locks for 159.99 Canadian. Hope this helps
