Two things.
#1 Great forum, I have been reading for about a week now and have really enjoyed it. Ya'll are broadening my horizons. Keep up the good work!
#2 HELP! I have just reposessed my '88 fourtrax 300 from my dad. After ordering a new Ignition Control Module and new tires for the front, I think it's time to consider re-installing the front drive axles (the ones that go from the final gear to the wheels.) Dad took them out somewhere around '96 or so and capped them with beer cans. Where can i look to find both complete assemblies at a reasonable cost? I have been using bike bandit as my source (not promoting them, but they have schematics of the atv) and they want almost 500 bucks a piece. If i cannot find them cheaper, the cans and 2wd will suffice.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I repo'd (southern expression) from him because he's letting it go to waste. He bought it for me on my 11th birthday and we have never had a bad day with it. Overall, it is still a good unit, it just looks like crap and needs 4wd again.
He took the axles out because the joints were bad. They (Mom and Dad--best parents anybody could ask for--I just don't understand their reasoning sometimes) had just replaced one side and it tore up again. I think the boots were splitting and letting all the grease out, but I don't remember. Either way, i have a true 2wd now. The axles are bent really bad, but dad saved them (don't know why.) They are still on the shelf where he put them the day they came off. I am gonna check tomorrow on having them straightened and if I can get the rest of the parts- minus the shaft itself.
Still needing help. Thx.
