Default uneven wearing in the cylinder means.....

Hi everyone-
Im in the process of rebuilding my 250x, and im going to get the cylinder rebored. However, on close inspection of the inside the cylinder, it appears to be worn unevenly(there are large scratch marks in some places and not othere, etc). Im wondering if this means that something else is wrong with it....
If anybody has any ideas id appreciate it
Thanks!!
Will

when the piston is going down the rod isnt moving perfectly up and down. since the rod is rotating on the crank and the crank is moving the rod in a circle, on certain parts of the stroke the rod is pulling/pushing the piston to one side of the wall. the "side wall loading" is greater at different parts of the stroke, this is the reason high rpm guys have to watch their rod to stroke ratio's. the ideal r/s ratio for minimal side wall loading is i believe 1.75, in which the 85-86 ATC and 86 trx250r's yeilds an amazing 1.74. their is a good chance whatever made the scratch was pinched between the piston and cylinder wall and the pressure differences made the inconsistancy of the depth in the scratch. i hope this helps. take pictures of the scratch and we might be able to help you more.
