I see some gagging over the idea of a 400 EX chassis with a 450CRF motor. So, what would be wrong with that? 400's are famous for good handling. Heck, Honda'd be smart to do that and sell them all day long for 5800 bucks. Let all the 15 year old benchracers cry about it on the forum, I'll be riding around the dunes on one having fun.

 

stock rears are 20s i went down 2 teeth in the rear and went to 18s what is the fcr ? I know the z is not the best thing out its a great quad and all quads have some fault or problem. each and every sport quad has some little glitch to it.

 

the sport of ATVing is still in its infancy compared to dirtbikes, and although I think the YFZ will be faster than the 450r, I still think that Honda still has some kind of inovative quad technology that will further the industry in future models. But, Honda did only have 5 months to come out with a 440 based machine before they lost all there loyalists to Yamaha, while Yamaha has been working on the YFZ for over 3 years. Kudos to Honda, more diversity in the ATV industry is ALWAYS a good thing.

 

The Keihen (spelling?) FCR 39- 41mm carbs really open up the Z. many people put them on when they mod their quad.

sorry guys, i was kinda just hoping that honda would want to bring quads into the 21st century like yamaha did. the YFZ is at the same level that the YZF450 is. the TRX450R is not at all at the same level the CRF450 is at.


STILL, i think this new TRX450 is gonna be one mean bastard of a machine. i'm just hard to please, I guess. I figured an aluminum frame or at least a completely new chassis... or at least wider A-arms and axle.

Yamaha even designed brand new tires just for the YFZ, honda didn't even make new A-arms. i respect honda a lot, they obviously make the best machine there ever will be, the 250R. it's just... i feel they cheated the quad guys. heck, even in the video on the honda website the guy stands right in front of the quad while the bikes are all very visable.




it just seems honda doesn't give a rat's *** about quads. that's just my opinion, i'm no friggen 'pro' at all. i could be wrong.

Hey Suzuki you're like me you ride a quadracer made when REAGAN was president and new cars were still being made with CARBURATORS. I would speak very softly when bashing a new machine that would run circles around what's in your garage. If Honda didn't give a rats butt we wouldn't be seeing new stuff tonight.

Atkins I like the spirit of your post but Honda's been working on this for some time, not a mere reaction to the YFZ.

These are great times after the drought of new machines from pre 1990 all the way forward to the 400 EX. I remember getting all excited when the 300EX came out for pete's sake.

 

is that so? we'll have to wait and see. some of my quad was made with reagan in the whitehouse, some with george dubya, some was made with his dad in the whitehouse.
