ok the Honda does look different...but the more I really read it's specifications the more I am impressed with it. Because in the end the devil is in the detail. Honda did their home work.... Atvconnections homepage has really good specs. I do the believe the quad has a Darth Maul look about it... the yzf is cool buuuut its such a Raptor Knock off in the looks dept...not that its bad....just been done before.
WHen you pull up on your new HondaTRX450r NO one will mistake you for anything...accept maybe a dvx? But still ...I was a bit upset at the no reverse no electric start.... but after thinking about it...it seems Like these are for LAZY people ..which I have slowly become ...time to go back. I say the trv450r was built for the old 250 r riders... a battery and starter would have diluted that image.

You have ALOT of Choices before you now. You have only seen the bike so far .... I for one will only read posts of praise on this bike that I have waited for since 1989......... You other guys that wimp out...well ..just make sure you lube up real good when you buddy shows up on his Honda... because he is gonna Violate you before he hands you Your a$$!!!

I'VE RACED MY YZF450 IN ABOUT 10 RACE'S AND SOME REC RIDING HAVE JUMPED 60' TO 85' DOUBLES AND FLAT TOPS AND I HAVE NOT BROKE ANYTHING OR HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP. THE ONLY PROB ANY OF THE GUYS I KNOW THAT HAVE YZF450'S IS A VOLT REGULATER.

yfz insanity, sorry to hear about your problems...I rode a yfz for two days and loved it! I was going to buy one but have been waiting to see what honda would do. At this point I'm not sure at all!?! It really stinks to have so many probs with a toy, trust me I know I have a c-dale![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Well i did the cam mod myself and the exhaust but i have been working on dirtbikes since the early 90's .. i have torn my 250R down to nothing and rebuilt it myself and have not had any problems and my uncle has a machine shop and i used to help him bore and overhaul engines. im not going to blame it on the manufacturer i like yamaha alot.. truth is that i do not know what the heck is wrong with it.. i thought at first that it was the E-brake cause it made the bike die on me before so i removed it.. but now im having simular problems and dont know what to blame.. i know i dont ride to hard for it to break down like that and the maintanence has been kept up on it ..
Not saying that the bike is a pos .. i think i just got a bad one maybe ? i dont wanna Ruin anybody's fun but i should have expected a few problems with a first year Quad .. i was so pumped about it i guess i didnt care .. if i get the bugs worked out without having More problems im Gonna Keep it .. you can bet on that ...

no one will blame you if you sell the bike and get a Honda ...maybe it was put together on a friday afternoon or monday morning....yamaha seems to have alot of those days ....come back buddy you know you want that trx450r... that yamaha is just a paper tiger!

It really doesn't matter which bike is faster off the showroom floor, the factories are getting involved in racing quads and they have allot of money to throw at it. If the YFZ is faster than the honda by 10 bike lengths it isn't going to mean anything as far as top level racing goes, Honda took a Rincon to Baja and threw a ton of money at it and won with a ute! Nobody hardly even noticed except for the honda faithful. I doubt that Honda even had a marketing plan for "if they win", it probably shocked them too. They had allot of custom 1 only parts on those bikes but they made them look stock for the pics, they even had tires *made* especially for baja that looked like the stockers but 6mm thicker. My point being that this is going to be a great season for racing and ATVs, the quads are going to get some real R&D for the first time and who knows what Suzuki and Kawasaki may do for next year. Kawi may decide that the Z400 is not fast enough for them and?

Oh Believe me .. No one will buy it if it is running the way it does now.. well not sober anyways .. not that i wouldnt want one of those honda's but im gonna hang on the the yfz for Awhile... The main reason for that is i want to wait untill Next june-July before i go buying another first year Quad .. i'm afraid i'll get a $6500 turd that i won't be able to flush.. if ya know what i mean..

SpinCycle, You hit the nail right on the head! I agree with all you have said. We are in for a GREAT revitalization of quad development! With Honda getting into racing hopefully Yamaha will jump in with factory support and sponsorship. Quads will get more r-d $$ and we the consumer will eventualy get the benefits. Get ready for a golden age of sport quads!
