Default value of a 250r?

so how much do you think good condition 250r's will be selling for now that the 450r is being released? I'm just wondering if it might be a better decision to purchase a 250r in great condition maybe already with all the right mods? Also, how much less reliable will a 250 be than a new 4 stroke assuming it was completely restored?

The price on 250r's has dropped dramatically since the release of the YFZ450. Right now I can think of at least half a dozen full aftermarket R's for sale that have just been rebuilt for less than 8k. Whereas three months ago they would have snatched up for somewhere in the high 9's. If you are in the market for a new MX racer I would buy the YFZ. If you are a TT guy or a drag guy this is a great time to get a great deal on a clean R. The new quads just wont cut it in certain areas but for all-around fun or serious MX I dont think you will be able to beat the new thumpers. Also, 250r's arent any more or less reliable than one of the new high-performance thumpers. They are all high-performance vehicles that require preventative maintenance and regular up-keep.

To be honest with you I haven't seen a drop in price at all in 250R parts and complete quads. I am constantly looking for good deals on parts and nothing has changed. Example, I brought a brand new 250r engine on ebay in April of this year. I paid $750 for it. I looked today and you have one with a starting bid of $699 and one selling for $1200. So I don't see the price break.

Also I think the trx450r fell short of what alot of people expected. The YFZ450 looks more promising that the new trx.

The new Yamahas and Polaris, et.al. , haven't had an ounce of effect on the price of Rs around here. They are still retaining their value quite well.

There are people who still prefer 2 strokes over 4 strokes.

WHY!?!? I like my $$ in my pocket, and not in the hands of the manufacturers!! and it's still a better machine IMHO...
