OK, the reason 2strokes arent even the top bike anymore, and they arent far behind a 4stroke at all, is because they are a dying breed, about 85% of all quads manufactured now are 4 stroke. If they manufactured a new 250r, i bet they would out sell the yfzs. And if you opened your eyes, you would know that the banshee is STILL being talked about. quads manufactured almost 20 years ago are still kicking the some of the new quads.2strokes arent outdated, they just put out too much pollution for these tree humpers. You need to learn a few things before you start trashing these 2strokes like you said we were trashing your 4strokes. You must have not ever ridden a 2stroke, because you evedentally have no idea what you are missing.

yeah the honda 450 is kick start to be real light! and its very amusing how it weighs more then the yammys 450, oh and the comment saying a suzuki owner dissing a honda fan? heh, thats kinda funny because suzuki is the king of making quads buddy if you knew anything you wouldnt be laughing at him

ok first off, the 450r does not i repeat DOES NOT weigh more than the y450. If suzuki were the king of quads y do people prefer the R over the LT250 and 500 for TT and MX? The LT500 is like a banshee, only fast on straight aways and wide open dunes. It would be nice if suzuki came out with a real sport bike, something like a new 2-stroke lt250 or a yamma-honda copy. rushnkid youve got to be the most ignorant kid ive read from! If my R is so ''outdated'' y is it faster than the yfz, raptor, ds, moto...you name it and chances are my R will be faster in almost any terrain. Yes it has mods but nothing that costed over $500 and its only a 265. Anyone who would rather pay $7-9k for a new bike over a $4k 250R needs to be slapped! hell with $4k left over no1 will be able to touch you on that R.

umm 250r gets eaten stock for stock by basicall anything, its completely retarded to compare something extremely aftermarket to anything, and suzuki made the first quad buddy and they continue to make the best 4x4s and the z-400 is one impressive trail rider...your not very intelligent either, your riding a 2 stroke and its a honda! worst possibility...

''stock''? who is this ''stock'' character you speak of??? look whos talking about not being very smart you ride a 2001 craptor and you wanna bring up reliability issues? and wheres this extremely modded bike your reffering to? I was comparing MY R which isnt anywhere near ''extreme''. You may be right about the 4x4's but i could care less seeing as how i dont really pay attention to those, the z on the other hand well lets just say ''i wont go there''.

Yamaha4eva, stock quads nowadays consist of like 60% aftermarket parts added on for your convienience,And everyone knows suzuki made the first quad, and as for the unintellegent remark about the 2stroke honda, then i know of a lot of proffesional riders that race 250rs that win races, are you telling me that all the pro riders are stupid?

Cro,
If you put "a couple" grand into the engine, you can have yourself a 43-45hp bike. Do you need a 450R over a mid 40's 400ex? Probably not. Is there anything wrong with having both? Absolutely not. I have a basket case 440 which we are stroking to a 465 and my 450R will be here after Thanksgiving. If I was on a limited budget and I had a 400ex, I would put the money into it. I had my last 440 built by CT in Dec of 98 and I NEVER had a problem with it. It ran side by side with one of my buddies Spark's high compression / stock bore Raptors. It did get clowned though by my other buddies PCP 686 Raptor. You can't go wrong with a nicely built 440ex, they run forever and they never boil over!

Cro-In the dunes you want all the high revvvvvving power you can get (eg. like the Banshee). The 450's make their power at a way higher RPM than the 400EX. Then there is the air cooled vs water cooled thing, and there is no contest. (Ride the 400 up a long, steep dune, and feel it fade right under you as the engine heats up.) I would start saving my money for a 450!!
I put in a few hours on the YFZ at the dunes (Rasor Rd., we had unridden sand all to ourselves!). I actually think that this bike, with softer suspension, will make an outstanding duner!! We will have to wait to see what the TRX is like.
