Default Electric shift problem

I have a Honda 450 ES Forman 2002-- I am currently experiencing a electric shift problem. The shift indictator for the gears comes on and blinks twice each time it comes on. When this happens I cannot shift to either gear while it is blinking. I can turn the ignition off and back on and sometimes this clears everything out and I can begin to shift okay, sometimes I have to turn the ignition on and off more than once. Does anybody have a suggestion as to what if any code the 2 blinking of the shift(gear) indicator might mean? What is the solution to solve this shift issue? thx

Too many bells for me on the new models. Should stick to the old manual shifter on earlier models. Honda thinks its helping but in my opinion its only trouble waiting to happen...
