question about carb of 400ex
#1
i just jetted my quad... it says to screw the air/fuel mixture scre in until it seats, then 3.5 turns out..... what does it mean "when it seats" all the way in? until i feel a slight resistance? I screwed it in until it was level with the carb, then went 3.5 turns out and i can't get my quad to start now.... please help

ok... "all the way in until it stops" it gets harder and harder to turn.... should it be going all the way into that sleve that it comes from? ohhh and stupid me.... i changed the spark plug to see if it was still running rich and didn't have the yellow thing all the way back on, that's why it wasn't starting. also, if my quad didn't get enough air.... could that cause it to bogg down, and even make a "pinging" noise in the engine? sorry if these are stupid questions.

Just turn it it will stop it is not like a normal screw where you have to force it. As for spuddering you might need holes in your airbox lid, you are not getting enough air into the carb so you are not getting a complete burn in the engine (not enough oxygen to make fire). With my mods holes are not enough. If i put my lid on it does not want to go inbetween 3/4 and full throtle.
