the yfz has 1 piston, it goes BDC (bottom dead center)-TDC (top dead center) 4 times, it makes compression, every time it bdc's it takes a gulp of fuel and then goes tdc and the gas is burned,which is forced out the exhaust port,every time it tdc's it makes the spark plug on the head spark.

quad did not start one morning ,here are the steps you go through ,
1.CHECK FOR SPARK,2.CHECK FOR FUEL,3.CHECK FOR COMPRESSION, make shure it is getting spark,no fouling, if ur getting spark and compression, take carb off and apart,make shure no dirt is clogging anything,such as needles,pilot screw,jets and any other fuel passage ways,make shure carb is jetted properly for tempature,if neccesary buy a carb rebuild kit, if your getting spark and fuel then it is most likely your compression. get your compression tester,take spark plug out and make shure your compression is good,if it is not good, take head and cylinder off crank case and check for warped piston rings,hole in piston or any damage, also check for cylinder wall damage, if only piston and rings are dammaged you must buy a top end rebuild kit,which includes piston,rings,pin,circlip,and gaskets. if your cylinder and piston is damaged you must purchase a top end rebuild kit,and your cylinder must be bored 20. over then you re in stall all parts and do the break in procedure.
