Actually, I have not had a problem with my battery running down, but one of my riding buddies has his ran down everytime we go to ride. He has had to pushstart or pull start everytime. I think he may have a short somewhere, but I've also had several people tell me that the batteries on these machines will run down if you don't start them every 2-3 days....I went ahead and purchased a hotshot battery charger for mine just in case this is true and hopefully I won't have this problem.....So Is it true about the batteries losing their charge or do you think there is a problem elsewhere as I do???

He could have some sort of drain on the battery like a short or somthing. A good way to check is take the battery to an Advance Auto Parts if you have one around you and they have a computerized machine that will charge the battery and check it for you all in like 20mins (free) and it will tell you if it has a bad voltage pattern, dead cell or the like. it very well just could be a faulty battery.

Hey JayBlazer -- I thought I recognized that name from the Polaris forums. I have absolutely no regrets in my purchase of the 400ex. The only thing I've found is that they are a bit cold natured to start. A $30 investment in a hotshot battery charger takes care of that....nevertheless it's a problem that doesn't detract from my decision. Between the z400, 400ex, and the predator it just made sense to go with the Honda. I did some research before my purchase and everyone I have talked to and read says these things are bullet proof. If you're like me, you've moded your trailblazer and tried to find ways to give it more pop. The 400ex will make you never regret the purchase. The reverse factor hardly ever bothers me.

I just bought a honda 400ex about 3 weeks ago and i am very impressed with it. It does start hard now that its getting cold up here but i'm not going to ride it in the winter anyway. I also have a polaris express 300 2 stroke, this thing was pretty nice to but the 400ex is way better. rip it up.

I think i am just about sold on the 400 ex it has a lot of strong points imo one of which is its age it has been around forever and all the bugs are worked out and hopefully we will see the price of after market parts start to fall i would love to have a quad with all the goodies even if it isent the fastest on the planet it will be fun to build...
