250Thumper,

I guess for some reason, your screen only showed the first post. Try reading the rest of the postings.

250thumper your wheels would be going the same way as the rope is pulling you, because the rope keeps winding around the axle,or you can also try wrapping it around your tire then put it in rev.

You guys should try it, it's actually neat, it could bust up your chain and sprockets if it's pulling too hard and it can't get you out, so it would work best on shaft drive atv's.

Brian, your idea sounds good, but you would need to put your weight on the front of the quad because it will want to do wheelies on you.

about brianwatkins' post. sounds like a good idea about running the rop under the quad, to a tree in front of you, but you might want to get ready for a mean wheelie.

Just an idea here... If you put it on your axle on run the rope underneath your quad. Just run the rope thru your a-arm or bumper. This will not allow your quad to wheelie. The rope will hold the fron down !! Positive that will work !!

Good luck guys !!!!

I can see it now. I manage to get my atv stuck in mud over the tires. You know, that black, stinky, kind that can stick anything? Then I lay down on my face in the mud and start digging to reach the rear axle. Then I wrap the rope/strap around the rear axle and begin to fish it through the mud under the 4x4 and finally get it out. The flies are buzzing around like crazy and the mud really stinks. Thank god I am now covered in mud and look like the creature from the black lagoon or those flies would be tearing me apart.

I wipe some of the mud from my eves and mouth and wonder, why am i so cheap to ride around on a quad who's value is in the thousands of dollars and feel I cannot afford a winch, chainfall, comealong, or something besides the mud wrestling technique. As the engine rpm picks up and I hear the rope tear off my rear brake lines I shudder and dive face first back into the mud.

If you play in mud you get stuck, if you like being stuck, don't get a winch. If you like riding your ATV and not crawling aroundin mud, don't get a winch/comealong/chainfall. It's easy.

JTC who would be dumb enough to do what you just said, I'm just telling you people a solution if your stuck. Most smart people would do such a thing if their a long ways from home or if you had no one to pull you out of the mud. Not all of us have a winch or are getting a winch so this is 1 solution to get you out.
