I've been reading this since the beginning and I think you really want the 400EX. I said I like the Z better, but that's just my opinion. I think what YOU, YOU, YOU, YOU, YOU really want is the honda, and I don't blame you it's a great bike. You should just stop driving yourself nuts and go get that 400EX. From what you said you would use it for it sounds like it will provide you with years of fun down the road. Just go get the EX and start deciding on what color your going to buy. LOL

 

I dont have either but my rideing buddy has an 03 400EX he wanted more power so he looked at the Z's , test rode a couple, wasn't impressed he said the ride wasn't much different nor was the performance, so Iguess it comes down to which one are you most comfortable with owning, One you wont be saying "Gosh I wish Iwould've gotten the _____ instead. Just my opinion. Get the one you like -your the one that has to ride it .

 

one thing you are forgeting, you said you wanted this bike for mostly trail riding, personally i'd go for the z because it has REVERSE

 

For bulletproof reliability: get the 400ex
If you want reverse: get the LTZ400
Performance: Either.

If you're patient, the 400EX will certainly get reverse very soon--as Honda wakes up and re-classifies it as a sport/trail quad.

With Honda lowering the price on the 400 EX, it makes it even more intreging. I test rode one months back and thought it had more than enough power for me. When it comes time for me to upgrade to a fast machine I think I too will go with the 400 EX and if I keep hearing of great prices like this; $4899 otd for an 04, it may be sooner than later...................anyone want to buy a slightly beat to he11 Ozark? HeHe!!!

Just bought my 04 EX tonight still in the crate and picking it up Friday.......WHOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!!!

i just got back from my local dealer, and talk about deals!!! brand new 03s (they are exactly the same as 04) for 4100 and 4200, the only reason for that is they have 10 yellow and 2 red, so red is more... but, anyway, that is still over a full g under list. and, they had a red one on the floor with all the goodies...

it has renthal bars, baja designs rear skid plate, FMF Anodized Slip-on pipe, TAG front bumper, troy-lee designs graphics kit and seat cover, scott grips, dg nerf bars, and all factory parts. the guy said the parts added up to $937 or something, and that the quad was priced at $5100!! i think that its an awesome price, but i am gonna shop around some more... wish me luck!!!
