I know they sell them at magic racing in michigan and rockymountain is carrying them now. I think the main site is www.hotcamsinc.com.

This is a copy of the information the guy at hotcams sent me...

"Here are the gains. This is in a new 2004 TRX400EX with an otherwise stock engine, Stage 1 cam, with a White Brothers-R4 pipe, no air box lid, jetted for the day. From 3000 rpm to 6000 rpm it was a 3% gain, from 6-6500 it gained 6%, by 7000 it was a 12% gain. We didn't like revving the bike higher than that though, that's a lot of strain on the engine so we shut the rpm off at 7000 for all our other tests. Like I said yesterday, it is an intensified Stock cam with good gains through the entire rpm range.

The Stage 2 doesn't like it below 4000 rpm very well with stock compression so ( it popped and banged it's way to 4000 rpm), we started all our runs at 4000 rpm and revved it to 7000 rpm. Stage 2 lost about 5% from 4000 rpm to 5000 rpm then gained big time from about 5500 to 8000, but again, revving it 7000 was much more in line with keeping good engine architecture ;-) and we limited our rpm to 7000 which gained 11%. Now the deal with the Stage 2 cam is, it was designed to be run with a modified engine, meaning more compression/more displacement than a Stage 1, and a 416 engine/10-1 compression graph would look a lot like the Stage 1 does to a stocker. Step it up to a 426 cc engine and it raises the operating gains and lowers the rpm where it works even harder. Port the head, it moves the rpm back up and enlarges the gains. We don't recommend either of our cams with a 440 cc engine, the cylinder head on the EX doesn't support that much displacement very well so, you need a HUGE cam with big lift and duration before you can make a 440 work very well."

What are the normal RPM ranges on a 416?

sanman, it depends on the cyl head, exhaust and how you install the cam. If you just throw this stuff together it will peak between 6500 and 7500. If you get the head right and retard the cam 4 or 5 deg it will peak in the 8000 range and pull hard to 10,000

Ok that would be appreciated. I'm not sure on the stage I or II still i do quite a bit of drag racing and sand riding, but I also do some "put put" trail riding. If it lugs under 4000 rpm. (I assume that first gear would be under that somewhere.) I may need to consider the stage I.

welp..i drag race and MX mine...i got a Wiseco 440 11:1 comp piston,Quicksand Racing port work,hot cam stage 1 cam,titanium valve springs and retainers,dirt digger clutch,white bros rev box,-1 front sprocket...and i have taken 686 rappys up until top of 5th gear w/no prob....i still have the stock carb on there too...im in the process of sending my stock carb to sparks and getting them to "MODIFY" it...
