tire chains or tire studs?
#2
studs work great in packed snow, fair on ice. chains work better in most conditions. you will lose some studs, and you will break some chain links. you wont miss the studs but you will stop and remove or fix the chain. if you dont a slaping chain on frozen plastic will present your reward for being slack about it.

in order to keep stud in ,you have to get the type that has a nut on the inside. yep you guessed it drill holes through the tire and put washers and nuts on inside, rubber liner and a smaller then normal tube. sounds like fun doesn't it. its the only way you can keep them in. now doesn't tire chains sound better.
