Default RUBICON SHIFT PROBLEM THE DEALER CANT FIX

2000 RUBICON WONT COME INTO SHIFT MODE. WE HAVE CHANGED ECM, ALL RELATED SENSORS, AND CHECKED SHIFT MOTOR. EVERTHING SEEMS TO BE MAKING CONTACT AND SENDING THE PROPER VOLTAGES. ANY IDEA OR HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. WE GAVE AND CARRIED IT TO A DEALER AND THEY CANT SEEM TO GET IT FIXED EITHER ITS BEEN THERE 2 MONTHS.

Default RUBICON SHIFT PROBLEM THE DEALER CANT FIX

they started making the rubi in 2001
there is no such thing as "can not be fixed" !!!
take it to a capable dealer, that employs trained mechanics,
if it sits there for 2 months, they have no clue how to fix it,

PS: please switch your keybord to lower case letters, you are YELLING !!!!

We need more info if you want help.

If it has sat there for two months, get it out of there. Once they get tired of working on it or discover they are in over their head, it will never get fixed regaurdless of how long you leave it there.

If you ride it and the dash goes to - - , we can tell you how to extract a code and start there. It needs to have the oil pressure taken too.

Good luck.

The dealer called today and said that honda told them to put a new harness from front to rear so we'll see what happens.

I would say if they have replced all the sensors and install the angle sensor proberly (meaning that it needs to be loaded(spring) Then the next best thing would be the harness. I would hope that they don't forget to initalize the computer. Does the dash start flash soon as you turned it on or after you started it.

Just make sure that you discuss this with the Honda rep... sounds like they are getting into the replace this and see what happens mode... If that is the method of choice, then HONDA had better be picking up the tab. You might have something as simple as a bad ground... Check the electronic shift buttons...

The dealer replaced the harness and its working BUT they want $900 for a new shift motor and the harness. What do you think about that?

Well I would tell them to shove it If they didn't call you and tell you that was what it was going to cost. I have had the same problem once. The person got water in the shift motor and that shorted out and took out the harness and the compiter in back. Melted the connectors for the shift motor where it plugs into the computer. So unless you agreed to them install this and they told you how much it was going to cost then you pay. Otherwise call honda it's in you owners manual (mostlikely in you quad at the dealership) or maybe your buddies has one. Call them takes a long time to get through but can help you out if you tell them what went on. Sounds to me like them guys a the dealer are tring to make up for what they cann't get out of Honda fro there messed up.. Well good luck and hope that your quad working great.
