I have a chance to buy a lt250r that is an 85 model. It only costs 500 but has some things missing. Its missing the wheels,tires,plastic,pipe,back shock,back brakes,brake lines,brake lever. I believe thats all that is missing. However it does have a new ct racing motor in it. It has a new aftermarket swingarm that is same length but stronger, new filter,freshly painted frame, and new skid plates. Is this worth 500 dollars? I really want a trx250R but cant really afford them right now. Is this the closest thing I can get to them? One thing though is I live in Texas and the buyer lives in Penn. so I cant see it directly but he is going to send me pictures. He also said he could deliver. What shoudl I do?

Id be leary of buying this machine. To replace all that stuff is gonna cost wuite a bit. It may have a nice motor, but if you havent actually seen it run, I probably would not do it.

So would I be better off to just mod my unmodded 300ex then? Could I make it good for what that other quad would cost me? let me know

Where in PA? If you buy it I have parts that you might be interested in. I have stock plastic in good condition (lil faded), a brand new set of red label douglas wheels, 2 fronts and 2 backs, a brand new set of douglas blue label rear wheels and a few other things. If your not going to buy it let me know the info so I can.
