300ex wont start
#1
i jsut got a 300ex 97 from a freind and rode it hard in the mud for about 4hrs. When i was about to load it in the truck i turned her off then tryed to start it back up the same way i always do. This time it wouldn't start. The lights come on but nothin happens when i hit the start button. I thoiught maybe it was just wet wires so i left it for 3 days before i looked for problems.....she still won't start and i was jsut wondering if anyone had any good suggestions or if anyone has had this problem. Thanx

This might sound stupid, but have you checked the kill switch? I have a 400ex and on my second or third ride I must have switched it to off with out knowing. Headlights were on, everything was normal and it just sat there cranking away. It only took me about 20 min. to figure it out.

Sounds like you either have a sticky throttle cable, or an air leak in the intake. to find an air leak, spray carb cleaner around the intake while it is idling, if you hit a spot that causes it to rev, that is your leak. otherwise, pull the cable and see if it moves smoothly, if not, try spraying some lube in to free it up.
