72-74 on pavement, ducked out of wind (helps a lot!), 170 pounds, shaved fenders, stock gearing rejetted and K&N. I don't care if you don't beleiev me, but it's true. If anyone lives in Maine anywhere they can come check it out for themselves. I would be more than willing to proove it. I did race a 250R a while ago though. I got him on take off (he couldn't drive the thing), then after a quarter mile he finally passed me on top speed. I know it was a quarter mile, because we have it marked off for cars and other stuff. That's my 2 cents.

2000 400EX - 64.6 mph on gravel, bone stock at the time (throttle adjusted), 180lbs, new 20" RAZR's, and geared down with a 14 tooth rear sprocket.

Measurement by Garmin GPS after the govt turned off selective availability (higher accuracy).

My stock 1999 400 EX without the airbox lid hit a max speed of 68.4 on the salt flats. This speed was clocked with a Garmin GPS 12XL. I was going downwind and weigh about 180. On a slightly downhill gravel road I hit 67.1 with no wind.
