they say that the 04's have a 38mm carb and the previous years have a 35.5mm carb. i am not sure if anyone has proved this is true and not a misprint yet though.

LOL......... I don't know why people keep suggesting that its a misprint? Maybe the YFZ is just a Raptor with misprinted labels on it. I mean come on, do you really think a company the size of Honda is gonna make a mistake like that and no one is gonna notice it? Futhermore, not even correct it by now? I don't believe so. For whatever reason some people don't want to believe it but thats OK by me cause ..........................
.....................I'm not the one whining cause my 400EX gets spanked by a Z400 and I'm quite happy with the performance......... Nana Nana NA NA

I just checked out www.hondamotorcycles.com and the 03 and 04 400 ex do have different sized carbs according to the specs. The 04 has a 38 mm carb and the 03 has a 35.5 mm carb

59 mph bone stock, that's on gravel. Changing to a larger front sprocket and smaller rear sprocket will get you more speed. That's clocked with a SPEED CHECK drive-by-radar

Alba Stage Three Kit includes: Pipe/Header/K&N Pro Design Kit/Jets

I ran 85 with the pipe, stock tires and gearing. That was up from 79 when it was all stock. The piped opened the bike up that much. Both bikes pull good speed, but you have to mod them to get them to open up to pull the high speeds.
