foreman 450 skid plates
Just bought a foreman 450 & was wondering where to get the best skid plates. I was looking at the armadillo at ATVTires.com, but don't know if the plastic would be strong enough. Any comments would be much appreciated. I was also wondering if the K&N filter & jet kits were worth the price.

I replaced the front skidplate with a homemade stainless steel piece of plate that is 3/16" thick. I then left the stock skidplate on and bought a sheet of 1/4" polyboard, made a template mirroring my frame from front to the rear just past where the stock skidplate ends and bolted it up. I have had it for a year almost and it is still in good shape. It really takes the abuse well and is lightweight. And if I ever need to replace it, I have lots more material. The poly is the way to go IMO.

I've been trying to decide which skid to put on my 450. I had a Maire plastic skid on my Recon and it worked great. I'm just concerned about using a plastic skid on a quad that weighs 200 lbs more than the Recon. I don't want to get anything that might rust so it'll be between the Maire and an aluminum skid. I'm thinking about going with an aluminum skid and aluminum a-arm guards. For me, it will come down to the place with the best product for the cheapest price.
