i keep fryin pulse signal generators!!!!!!!
#1
ok my bike was down for a while because the ignition pulse generator fried so i replaced it and it runs great for w week and then it gets rained on and now i'm not getting spark anymore. i don't see how the rain effected it because i have washed it 2 or 3 times before this rain
this is getting ridiculous i'm about ready to sell the bike its making me so mad

well i did a search and keep seeing that everyone has been having problems with the cdi box so i just bid on one off ebay. so i guess when it gets here i will put it on and see if it fixes i, if not i guess i'll buy ANOTHER pulse generator and see if there is anyway that moisture is getting into the crank case is effecting it

Pulse generators generally don't "fry" and it's mounted inside the engine where the motor oil is. And I don't think water has much to do with the function of that thing anyhow. It could be the CDI, or maybe a corroded connector. It sounds like you might have an intermittent deal going on. I guess my question is: if there are so many bad CDI units around, what's to keep some nasty individual from putting one up for sale on ebay, or worse yet, an intermittently bad one? I guess it's cheaper to go that way, but if it doesn't work, you are exactly back at square one.

well i'm buyin a brand new one from someone with alot of positive feedback
and i know where the pulse generator is because i had to replace it and after i did that the bike ran great and then it starts raining my bike sits in the rain for about an hour i go out side crank it up drive it about 20ft to my shed and now it won't spark this is the same thing that it did last time it broke down. i did a search and found that someone else had a problem with everytime it was damp out side he couldn't get his bike to spark then he changed the cdi and it fixed it so thats the route i will go this time

I ll bet you have a corroded electrical connector that when it gets wet is interupting signal pulses. I had one on the white barrel connector above the ignition coil. It was hard to get apart but sure enough water got in it and turned one spade green and nasty. If you want I have a good cdi and pulse generator you can use to try out instead of blowing cash on new ones.

Yeah, blow off the pulse generator and maybe try a CDI (Wistech's good enough to let you try one). Use some dielectric grease on the connector. You CAN test the pulse generator with a resistance test, but if it's intermittent, it will only give bad test results when it's in a failure mode.
