starter problems when engine hot
#1
I have an honda trx350 1987 and im having problems starting my engine only when its hot. I don't think its the starter cause it works fine when its cold. But when the engine is really hot, the starter seems to have a hard time turning the engine. One time i had to use the kick start because the starter couldn't turn the engine fast enough to start it. And its not the battery. Maybe a bearing thats going bad?Someone have a clue ? Thanks.

ya, could be brushes, used to put them in like popcorn, if the brushes look good, the armature may be shorted, actually it's pretty common for starters to fail with the symptoms you describe

Starter bushings? I doubt it very much, never seen that on this model before. BTW, dudey, if you replace your starter, make sure you get the right one. In 87, they used different length starters in the Foreman and standard models.
