Dump 250R for 450R
Everyone has very good points. I love working on my bikes too, but I like to make them better not fix crap because its broke. As far as 4-strokes being hevier, not with these new 450s. My 250r has ALL the goodies on it and I have NEVER seen any 4-strokes that could hang with my R. I havn't rode with any of these new 450s yet though. I never even ride the R any more, I'd rather just hop on my Z and ride cause I don't have to worry about it. Now that I think of it, my R starts pretty quick when its cold, just takes her a lil bit to warm up.

But its too bad that 2 strokes are still faster than 4 strokes. I own a 86 quadracer, and I was nearly ready to sell it for a Z400. At the hills in Glamis they were faster. Then I did about $200 in mods(carb, air cleaner, porting) and now I can walk over piped z400 and 400ex. I can even almost hang with a Raptor. My bike has cost me a total of around $1500, so i couldn'tt warrant spending $6000 to not go faster. I aslo dont mind working on my quad and mixing gas. However, my wife has a 300ex and I am glad she does. She love the electric start and reverse, plus she can put gas in herself.
Truthfully, I dont think the 250r will go down as much or as fast as many may think. Their presence is too strong, and they are real easy to mod and go fast.

It's too bad that 2 strokes are faster than 4 strokes? Riiiiight. That's a pretty general statement. Some of the fastest motors ever built are 4 stroke. I own a modified DS650 and 400EX. Both beat my bro's built 250R. Now, that being said, there are over-Built 3 piston Banshees running funny fuel that beat me - I would say its a matter of perspective.
