I will let you in on a little secret about Honda. They have been making some real lady-like quads since '90.(400ex, 300ex 250ex, now another trail bike w/ kickstart and no reverse.) Honda has been living on history since '89. I am just joking Honda makes some real b@lls to the wall type on quads

Who ever made the comments about no caring about the dyno, i kind of agree most of the time. You can not dyno a quad her on one day and another dyno and another quad in another place and have a good comparison, BUT in this case it made a good point. The honda 450 is never going to be as good motor wise as the yamaha. The powerband quits way to soon and 3hp on a small quad motor is huge. In a crewcab 1 ton truck it is no big deal. I bet the dirt rag crew did there best to try to get higher dyno numbers for the Honda to no advail. 2 large aftermarket shops told me they are more like 6 hp apart stock.

I won't own either, and was shocked to see the Yamaha was better in most everything. The Honda motor will never have the pop of a YZF/YFZ or the top end hit. My bro has had his YFZ since July 1 and it is simply amazing. I have witnessed what it does first hand week in and week out. I'm not changing my ride though. Guess the Honda diehards don't have the saying, but it handles better. The Honda is the second best machine, face it.......If I ever was to change anytime soon it would be the YFZ in my garage.. The YFZ is now even better then what the other loyalists could even of imagined. My unbiased opinion....

Pick any machine you like and do a before and after with the after being set up and dialed in for a much flatter power curve and you will give at least 3 $hits from then on.
This is something any of the two stroke guys would understand very very well. Not only isnt the motor making any real power when its out of the "curve" but it can be very tireing try to keep it on the pips so to say.
I had rode plenty of the older 125 and 250 class dirt bikes in the past and after riding a friends 02 yz 250 that had an extremely flatter curve in comparison to the older stuff it was very obvious how much better this is etc.
Have to admit I did and still do enjoy the top end hit of a two smoke but I know I am faster on a 4 stroke with a flatter power curve.
