So a yfz with the timing mod, no lid, no baffle should run about 49-50hp correct? Too bad my raptor only came with 33/35. At least I have a higher potential.

There's a yfz website with a whole lot of great info on it, Daddog's Website. It looks like everyone from a complete newb to a seasoned veteran can get at least a little out of this page. I dont even have a yfz and I learned quite a bit about the jetting of carbs.

i think thats with full exhaust and the works. it goes mid 40's...the timing mod doesnt do a WHOLE lot ... on the dyno's on the net someone made before and after the timing mod...there was like a 2.8-3.0 hp gain the the mid range ONLY...everything else stayed pretty close to the same if I remember right...i'll have to scoop that page up in my bookmarks to make sure

You can have "tude when you have the superior machine, in this case Yamaha hands down. Honda stopped short of building a killer machine. They have the money, man power and resources and did not follow thru.

I don't think that Honda stopped short of building a powerful machine, the built it to be California emissions and sound legal- in some distant year. Thats why they're offering the HRC kit right off the bat here. I think in a couple more months we'll have the true story on the who's who of MX track power- so let's just say that the jury is still out................

I just dont understand why everyone is saying that Honda dropped the ball, but they are also saying that it will be the better trail machine? About 90-95% of the YFZ and R riders will be trail riders, so who made the "purpose-built" machine?? The 450R will be perfect for the very aggressive trail rider, duner, and anyone who likes to do a wide variety of riding......

Fastlane- honda did not intend to build a trail quad, they just fell short. Kick start is not very many peoples ideal of a trail machine. Electric start and reverse come to mind.

I do agree with that 14mins, but whether they intended to or not, they made a great trail quad! I think that many people will not mind having to lift the front end of such a light quad, and I actually prefer the kickstart! Kinda cool and no friggin battery to worry about!

I'd be afraid of some of that advice, but thats me.
