You sure you can do 65mph? If the 250x runs good, I'd bet on that.

If the kid knows how to launch off the line then he will probably get the holeshot, but I think the wolvy will pass it in top speed.....I would guess the wolvy to top out in the upper 50s mph, while the 250x would be in the low 50s mph range.

Also make sure he really is "stock", its hard to imagine a 10+ year old sport machine that has not been modded at all....

number one, a 250x is better than a 300ex. it goes faster not slower(my neibors got one). number 2, a wolverine wont run anywhere near 65.

Unless a 300ex is geared real high and modded it will not go anywhere near 65mph, and I thought the 250x and 300ex were built on the same chasis, with the 300ex just having a little bit larger displacement. They are both 4 stroke SOHC air cooled motors, is the compression very different from the two bikes? Just wondering why you would think the 250x is so much better then a 300ex?

The 250x revs higher than the 300ex, so it goes a little quicker, also, a 300ex will go about 57mph, if not more when broken in good.

hmmm...really..my wolverine wont go 65...wow...ok. it goes 58 with stock tire size, i went to 25s, 2 inch taller then stock..according to a tire size according to top speed calculater thing i found, it should go 65 with the taller gearing. and you dont think a wolverine will ever go 65? look at some of the members wolverine on this board.. some of them (like spddemon's wolvy) will out run a 400ex. so there ya go.
