Is it ok to use a motor oil like castrol gtx 10w-40? I have heard of a lot of people using this. Will it be ok or not. Or do you guys recommend honda only? Thanks for any info.

You don't have to use Honda oil, but yes you should use an oil that is formulated for motorcycle/atv engines. Using oil for autos will eventually damage your engine (it will not last under the torture of a small high reving engine). I personally like the Castrol.

I would'nt use regular automotive oils, they will protect your engine just fine, but just like FarmStud said they can cause your clutch to slip. I prefer Motul, but any oil made for motorcycles will work fine.

what about in a liquid cooled belt drive auto? engine temp stays with-in a certain temp and there are no clutches internaly. not sure the difference between that and a auto motor. I always use yamalube but often wondered about the difference? motor oil for cars is under $ 2.00 a quart and yamalube is$ 3.75
