Well went for a long ride today and I'm most dissappointed in the way my bike acted today.
For starters , TWICE today my Electric shift left me stranded for about 15 minutes each time. It Wouldnt shift at all. And secondly a new problem. I glanced down to see what time it was and it was flashing 1:00 . Hrmmm i said , I reset it and it lasted for no more than 10 minutes. Didnt matter if I was sitting still or driving , the screen would totally blank out and the clock/trip would be reset.

At one point while driving I glanced down to see what was happening and it said my bike had 60215Km's on it ! WOW , I stopped, turned bike off , and back on only to see the proper mileage of 450Km's.

Anyone else experiencing ANY of these same problems ? My dealer said the shift problem was "Normal" . NOT A CHANCE. This has left me stranded about 6 times so far and I only have 450Km's on the bike......

our 450es did lots of funny stuff as well not linked together ie....reverse light stayed on...would change gear...at a stand still she was going 6km.....top gear she was going 20!......and it missed at the top end.......under warranty??....hope so.......take it back and tell em to test the big black box under the front fender with all the wires going in and out of it......it was faulty on ours........after that i wasn't so impressed with the es hondas!

My 450ES did the same thing at one time. It turned out that the battery was going dead. I didn't think the battery would be causing all those problems, but when i recharged it all the problems stopped.

I have never experienced that kind of problem with my Foreman and it now has 2000 kms on it. My Rancher, however, did have a problem and exhibited many of the characteristics that you mention. I took it back to the dealer and they cleaned and packed the angle sensor with dilithium grease. Since then there hasn't been a recurrence.

I have 1500 miles on my 99 es with no problems. On the 4 th of July I went to start and no spark...the culprit was loose connections at battery..both + and - CONNECTIONS needed tightening.Fired right up and works great.
I run valvoline synthetic and I feel it shifts better...and should work even better when it gets chilly up north.I"ll go with syntetic in differential also.
Good luck ...hope your dealer comes through for you!......Bill

Tell your dealer you want a full diagnostics on the main, cpu or black box.

Second check the three or four sensors that go into your motor. Disconnect them, clean, & then reconnect.
