I was thinking to buy a 450 honda or 450 yamaha this summer .
Do ya think it would be wise to see what comes out for 2005?
What month did the Yamaha come out?
If nothings changed maybe i can pick up a 2004 for cheaper.

Sorry not too interesting of a topic just board.

I'm waiting till 2005 for my TRX450R. There will be very small subtle changes, things you may not even notice, but they will be there. Things Honda didn't find during their development process, that are revealed by mass producing them and selling to the public. Say maybe a heat treat process, a small oil seal change, or a bearing improvement. Little stuff that you may not even notice, but just knowing they will be there makes a difference to me.

most companies bring out their new quads in Sept., making Nov the idea time to buy a last years
model. Honda had some huge discounts last fall, in Nov and Dec. I don't see Yamaha doing that
much, but I am sure they would if they had the excess inventory to warrant it.

Steadiefreddie makes a good point. First year models seem to alway have a bug or two. And even following years where there are no official or advertised changes, there are more. I once saw an "engineering sheet" for a GL1500, in a year where supposedly no changes were made. A Honda DSM had it, and said he wasn't even supposed to. There was a WHOLE page of changes. Most were small changes based on previous year problems that had shown up, some changes were mfg. processes to save money, but there's a lot more goes on year to year than you might think.

If it's possible to wait, I say wait.

2005 and 2006 will be the biggest years of our sport regarding new and improved models.
