Default 400ex Holeshot or Maxxis Razr?

I am looking to replace my stock tires this spring. I am debateing between the itp xc i think they are called or the maxxis razr. i want to keep my stock 20 size but i am not sure if i should get 4 ply or 6 ply tires. alot of my riding is on pavement so i dont want a super soft tire. i also heard that the 6 ply tires are very stiff and dont conform to the ground differences. if anyone has either the razr or holeshot tires on there 400 let me know which ones u like best.

My buddy runs the holeshot xc's and loves them. He swears they are the best 20" tire made. I like the Razr 2's myself. Either way you will get good hook up.

I have the six ply Razrs and they are great. I had the 4 ply prior to my new set and they handle the same. I will only buy 6ply now cause I hate flat tires. I think ITP or Razrs are both great choices. Personally I think the Razrs hold up better. One thing you might also consider is going with a wider rim to get more rubber on the ground, that makes a big difference.

Remember also you should only buy the tire suited for the type of terrain you ride on.

I would have to say 40% of riding is on pavement, 25% wooded dirt trails, 25% loose gravel trails, 10% sand. I try and stay off pavement as much as possible but in order to get to the trails and back to my place i must use the roads.

Razrs are great for trails and loose dirt, but the pavement will kill any dirt tire. They will outlast the stock tires though. They absolutley suck in the sand.

For trail riding try Kenda Klaw's. I'm running them on my R now. They are almost as good as the Trail Claw 2's. As for the Hole Shot and Razr they did not work very good on the R got stock way to much.
