If I remember correctly, initially there was the un-suspended fl250 which eventually gave way to the fully suspended fl350 Odessey with reverse I believe. There was actually two "releases" of the fl350 odessey. I can't remember exactly what the problem was but there was a design change in the motor for the second release and a recall for the first release. I think it had something to do with the motor failing. Anyway, last came the pilot which was a 400cc

The first odysseys came out in the late 70's. Ugly things with a partially roll cage and a 250cc motor. I think 81-84 had the more familiar looking full roll cage but with no rear suspension and 250cc motor. 83(I think) and 84 had an electric start option. In 85 it all changed. Full suspension, electric start and 350cc air cooled motor. From what I heard, all the Odysseys were made in 85, but sold for the next few years. Thats why you never really see a 86 or 87 Odyssey. In the end their was the Pilot. Liquid cooled 400cc motor with better suspension.
My younger brother runs an 85 Odyssey in Glamis and it goes just about everywhere. We put a watercooled conversion on it so it would stop blowing pistons.
I have owned an 83 and 84 Odyssey and they were fun for cruising hills and trails, at a somewhat leisurly pace.

Never ran a Pilot, but I expect that they run really well. I have seen quite a few in Glamis, all over Glamis
