Default Steering stem on 250R

Hey. On a 250R steering stem, does the bottom part just push down into the reciever hole for it? If so, what is the nut for?

I have mine out of the frame, all bushings and washers (I think) are on it, and the nut is on it. I thought prolly the nut would go on the bottom to draw it into the hole, but if thats the case then I am missing a washer or something. If i just push the whole thing down into the hole, it fits fine.

Is this right?

The nut goes uder the bridge flange at the bottom. The stem goes through the hole then from the bottom the nut goes on with a cotter key.

It's the thing on the bottom of your frame that the threaded end of the stem goes through.

On mine all i have is the hole for the stem, it goes all the way though at the same diameter. The nut does not catch on anything. I can put the nut on and then put the stemm all the way down into place.....

okay at the bottom their is a hole. From the underside of the frame their should be a bearing and a washer then the nut and cotter pin.

I have, from top to bottom, a seal, a bearing, a small spacer thing, another seal over that, then a washer and then the nut.

but the hole is too big for the washer to catch on it. I looked on ronnies.com at the parts diagram and it looks like what i have. I am not slow, but this has me lost
