Is over 5 grand in miles something to be considering for purchase on a 2001 Rubicon? I mean, it is a Honda after all, couldn't ask for better in the long run. It runs good and everything on the body and electrical is in good shape as far as I know. Only needs a brake job and what seems like some new bearings, but after 5,000+ miles, that's not unusual by any means, right? Should I really worry about the mileage enough to maybe consider another machine? We are very close to purchasing and after a thorough riding all weekend, it performed above my expectations.

I have seen a few 01s for $4500 with between 1200 and 1500 miles on them that were very clean. Ours has 4000 miles on it and we have not had any problems. I do think that is quite high mileage for the average 3 year old ATV. We will run ours until we have about 10,000 miles on it then will get a new one and this one will be an extra.

It depends on the selling price. I wouldn't want to pay top dollar for a machine with 5000 miles. If I could get one with less miles for the same price. I've had my Foreman for about 7 months and I have a little over 900 miles on it. (I haven't been riding much over the winter.) Part of it would depend on where it was ridden for over 5000 miles. (5000 miles of swamp mud or 5000 miles of smooth trails.) You also have to take into consideration that it needs the brakes and bearings. Also, will you be able to get something out of it later if you decide to sell it. It all comes down to how much you'll have to pay for it now.

we bought our foreman ES about 7 months ago and we have over 3000 miles on it already without a single problem. i think that if it only has 5000 in 3 years its not going to be in that bad of shape.
