Med, get the 400. My hubby rode the 300 last year and he is 5'9. The 400 is a much better machine for the bigger guys. You will be terribly cramped on the 300.

Yeah the 300 is a great machine if your 12 maybe, but other wise it is a waste of money, it is outdated, underpowered, and does not have half the jumping ability of the 400ex. as for size I am 5'7" and weight 130 and it feels a little small but the 300 feels even smaller. Reverse would be nice but it is not worth the trade off, I can easily pick up the front or back and point it in what ever direction it needs to go. It don't matter where you ride woods, trails, dunes, mx, mud, snow, ice or even sitting in the garage, the 400 will out perform the 300.

I have a 400ex and i ride with a Yamaha Kodiak and Big Bear and Wolverine. We ride on rough old trails with mud, rocks and all that good stuff. My 400ex does awsome. It is smooth and very forgiving. And wheelies in any gear plus has speed. Lot more power to. Just spend $400 dollars more and get HIGH PERFORMANCE. You will be happy you did!

thats right. trails end. what happens? pick that quad up, turn it around and go. And also, when going into private woods I think its important to need that reverse.

i personaly like the 400ex better. i am used to a utility so it feels like it has more room to me. i recomend just taking both for a test drive and see what you prefer.
i don't think you will be disapointed with either!!

I have a moded 250r that smokes 400ex's.I also have a 97 300ex and I love it just as much as my 250r.The 300ex is all stock but mods are in the mail.I rode it yesterday and i had the most fun I have had in a long time.Sure the 400ex is faster in a drag. But I have smoked 2 400ex's in the woods a 99 and a 2000.I say go for the 300ex and put some mods on it and U will not be dissapointed.

Like some other people have said...you will be happy with either. My two cents are, if you are gonna shell out a lotta cash, why not pass a couple more over green bills and get a superior machine? Sure...some people are better riders than others, but when riding skills are the same, rider on the better machine checks out. Also, you can get a 400ex and not have to modify it 'cause decent performance is already there(maintaining reliability).

I'm also gonna add that I'd be very surprised if any other quad can take my 300ex in the woods. All I need is nerfs and bumper (which I can't afford just yet) and I'll be going fast around the turns of the trail, and when it ends, pop it into reverse, and speed my way out another way. But like the others I must say that if you're gonna race get the 400ex, if you're in the woods get the 300ex.

I wish my 400ex was a little more nimble on the tight trails..........and I wish it had reverse........heck, I wish it was a 400cc 300ex............if I were you, I would wait until honda adds reverse to the 400ex. ride what you have for now............. or just get the 400, some comfortable shoes, and a good pair of gloves.
