I am going to get a honda quad here pretty soon. I am either going to get a 2001 300ex or 2001 400ex, which one is better? should I go with the 400ex? what is different about the 300 and the 400 besides the 400 has no reverse? how much price difference between the two? ANY ONE THAT HAS A 300 OR 400EX PLEASE TELL ME HOW YOU LIKE THEM, anyone else help me with the ??? above! thanks

I have a 300ex and love it. mainly it just matters where you are gonna be riding. if you are gonna ride MX go ahead and get the 400ex but if you want to save some $ and are gonna ride trails te 300ex is a super fun quad. the thing rides wheelies forever! don't get me wrong the 300ex does MX good too. I'm fixing to start racing. anyways later

get the 300EX!

Reverse is so needed. And with the money you save buy some mods and you'll be all set..

I love mine, it's a great little quad..

I had the 300ex and i thought it was the best. Then i got the 400ex and thought it was better. I never really use reverse on my atv. I manly ride on a track. But if your in the woods alot maybe get the 300ex.

One thing many forget is with the light weight of a "Sport" quad, reverse is not nearly as necessary as it would be on a Scrambler or a big utility machine. I trail ride/race, ride a lot of MX track, and do a little duning. I very seldom ever want for reverse. The only time I really would like reverse is when forging thru uncharted/untamed woods, where there is no trail, I don't do much of that, so......

On the 400EX vs 300EX, being a Scrambler rider, I presume you would be disappointed with the performance of a 300EX. The 400EX puts out over 10 more rear wheel horsepower and has far better suspension. I have not seen the fastest 300EXs beat (or come anywhere near) the fast 400EXs in harescramble racing thru the woods, or even modified 300EXs being able to outrun stock 400EX's on the MX track (riders being fairly equal).

What it boils down to is the 300EX is a younger / more inexperienced riders quad, where the 400EX is more of a performance machine. Evaluate your wants/needs and make the appropriate decision.

Listen to Surfer400ex and Hondatrx300ex. Thats the rule you should follow. I'd say the samething as they did.

The 300 is a really nice machine, but not comparible to the 400. If you really want reverse for some reason get the 300. But, the 400 isn't that heavy. Try pushing it a mile home cause a ranger made you. But the 400 is an awesome machine. And that thing can lift the front wheels so easy. It's really up to you. Do you want reverse? Do you want to go fast or really fast? I will never trade my 400 for anything. Good luck. I know I sounded a little biased but sorry, I love my new 400. I really like the 300 too. Nice for smaller riders, great suspension, and good power. Good luck once again.

If you got the money, go for the 400EX. I've only heard good reports on the way they ride, and I liked it when I rode one.

if you are kind of on the small side Id get the 300, but if you are over 5'9" or so go with the 400, unless having reverse is worth being a little cramped. I have a 300 and love it but Im only 5'7". I have no problem hangin with a lot of other quads, unless I run into a really good rider.
