test drive em both decide for your self.......
every one has there own preference.....
my personal opinion.....next time i brought a bike i would probably buy a yamie wolverine.....but that is mainly because of what i do, where i ride.....i have a 250x (300ex)
and i reckon its to short......the 400ex would be a better bike for me......buy thats a hell of a lot of money!
.....don't worry about the reverse thing.....so what.....if you thought about were you rode and the way you park your bike.....its not really that greater issue.....they are light bikes......anyone with some grey matter upstairs would figure out a way round the problem

just thought i would add my two cents.....i get a kick out of these posts (heated discussions).......what ever you ride....drive it like ya stole it.....lifes to short

I'd buy the 400ex Sportrax in Yellow. They are ultra sharp looking. I bought a 400ex last year, and I am very happy with it. It has decent suspension, and the aftermarket possiblities are endless.
The 300 is a nice machine too, I just don't like getting passed.......
Regardless of what you buy, TAKE THE TIME TO BREAK IT IN!! Nothing worse than a blown motor in a $5600 quad that isn't a year old!!

well i'm 6 foot 240. I had a 300ex for about a year. the thing pulled me around fine, just really had to run it hard. I traded it in on a 400ex. Only time i miss reverse in parking it in the garage. On the trail it doesn't bother me. The difference between the 400 and 300 is like night and day. I'd def. wait till you can locate a 400.

I drove a friend's 300ex, he had a DGpipe and silencer, port and polished head, highcompression piston, and K&N power kit.
Then i got my stock 400ex. The only diff was that his was louder, and didn't handle as good as mine. The 400's power and handling is better than any 300's even after the 300 has been modified.
And don't even start on suspension. In comparison, the 400 can easily out jump any 300ex.
I ride on trails, tight ones at that. Need to turn around just whip a nut and go.
