Default 440 no power

i just bought a built 440ex from a buddy of mine from work (work on honda cars). its got a 440 kit, 12.5:1 piston, hotcam, and its piped. i believe that he had it jetted. yeasterday it ran great, ran it up and down the street a few times and pissed of the neihbors. its pretty fast, and has a deffinite power band. but today i went out to fire it up and it had a hard time starting, (it was prolly 45 degrees out). when i got it started and let it run on choke for a little while, i went to burn up the street and the thing had almost no top end. i didnt really have time to let it get warm before the neihbors got man, im a little worried, it feels like a car that has the cam timing off one tooth. ( i know cars not atv's) is something wrong, or am i just an idiot worried for nothing, and the carb was cold or some junk like that?

I have 2 friends with 400ex's and when they don't let them warm up for a little when it's cold it's the same way so I'd say let it warm up longer next time and it should be alright

yeah, make sure it is warm. i agree, your jetting could be off too. make sure you didn't accidently leave the choke on half way too. also, with that compression, you need to be running some race gas.
