Default How interchangeable are master cylinders?

Anyone know how interchangeable the front brake master cylinders are? I am thinking of using street bike brakes on my 250R project, but I dont know if I need a matching set of calipers and a master cylinder, or if I can mix them up. I assume it would have to be something close....

Please help....

Thanks.

Master cylinders and slave cylinder pistons have a specific bore to bore relationship. If you get it out of wack, it will be harder to pull, or easier to pull depending on what piston you get bigger. If you get it too out of wack, your brakes will feel very strange, like a very hard pull, with very little brake. Not a good thing. You could luck out, and get the right size, but then again you could roll snake eyes the first time out and then.........................

I would suggest the suzuki gsx600 katana master cylinder and lever, it works perfect and is much firmer than stock.
